"THIRST is absolutely breathtaking. The unexpected and idiosyncratic subject is an open challenge and threat to traditional and predictable, floral portrait material. It announces its arrival with perfect posture and an unapologetic declaration of confidence and glamor. Its advanced age is inconsequential and doesn't stop it from dressing up as the queen it is with a bejewelled crown and brooches made up of plump, water droplets. These unusual accoutrements and the stimulating structure left by the few, twisted and shrivelled, remaining petals are a superior and fascinating substitute for the youthful and bountiful corolla normally present. The vibrant background splits down the middle between warm and cool and its colour is repeated and carried further inside the water droplets. This restores the vitality and spirit of the eccentric flower which has proved it is the fairest of them all in this riveting, poetic and perfect artwork." -- GALLERY RING
