"SEALIFE is a striking synchrony of order and abandon. Organized and architectural bones inform and direct the composition from beneath while a thick layer of insouciant and spontaneous brushwork performs on top. This carefree application of paint is evident in the horizontal bands which stretch across the picture as they casually overstep and overflow with utter disregard for each other's boundaries and personal space. They stack up until their increasing hegemony is ceased by resistant, vertical opponents above. The horizontal persuasion continues in exciting detail inside these four, narrow columns which make use of the only, warm colours and prosper in a rare, symmetrical system. They stand forward on the edge creating drama and distance in the intense, visual adventure of the upper segment which counters and challenges the flat, cross-sectional nature of the area below. The resulting spatial dialogue becomes an endless, intriguing puzzle and is paramount for the success of this vivacious and daring painting." -- GALLERY RING
